Once you hit tab or space, CT will check to see if you (or a networked station) have already logged a contact on the same band and in the same mode. Remember, you can make a contact with the same station many times, but each contact must be in a different combination of band and mode.

In this case, CT identifies KQ6JZ as a "needed call". That means you want to finish this exchange if you can. The final steps to complete the contact are to enter the class (2A, for example) and the section (Illinois, abbreviated IL) and hit enter.

When you hit enter, CT will log the contact. That means that the information is recorded in the local computer's record (which can be edited later) and it's transmitted to a networked station, so that operator will have current information about who the group has contacted.
