Kenwood TH-G71A (circa 1999)

This is one of my Main Rigs. It is almost always on my belt, unless I am in my shack, or one of my vehicles.

I am looking for some better programming software (especially one that can share memories with the V7A, if i can't find one soon, I'll write it myself. I am probably going to have to since i don't see any third party programming interfaces anywhere i look.

My specs would include a more usable interface, the ability to store different sets and scan-lock statistics and be usable from a PDA(WinCE) as well as a regular computer. I travel out of my local area frequently and would like to have freqs scanned when I am driving that I wouldn't use at either destination or home. While manual programming is easy, it sure would go faster from a PDA when you do 200 memories 3 times in one day!

The first thing you should do with this rig, is get a better antenna. The duckie isn't very long range. I have a Premier RD-98 that is about 3 times better and is still very flexible (piano wire style).

Basically see my above comment about the programming software.

Operation is Excellent, the display stinks! It's basically unusable in direct sunlight (but not many mobiles are). I have put some anti-glare film on it (the stuff you put on computer screens and it helps tremendously!

I am still waiting to get it into to Packet Operation, that should come soon.
