Here I am in one of the duller moments.
Leonard, KD3QQ

FLASH!! In the spring of 1999 I was priviledged to be awarded "Western Pennsylvania Section Educator of the Year"! I wish to thank Lauren, W3DZU; Ted, W3NZB; and Ed, N3YNC for their hard work (we all work as a team) and members of the classes who studied hard, all of which made this award possible. We further wish to thank the ARRL for their support in our efforts to assist others in getting licenses so that they can enjoy this hobby and the community service that it can provide.

We are proud of our recent classes. In one group six out of seven who took tests passed their desired Morse code requirement and five of the six went way beyond. None of them had any previous code experience but 1 passed 5 WPM, 4 passed 13 WPM and 1 passed 20 WPM!! The reason for our success in teaching Morse Code has been CodeQuick--The fastest way to master the code!

Here are some pictures from recent classes:

Out of this group Valarie Sas and Priya Kapil passed element 2; Roxanne Gaal earned her Novice license with the call of KB3DVE; Adolph Arlotti, Jr earned his Technician license with the call of KB3DVD; Susan Mallick and Sue Stojakovich earned their Technician Plus licenses with the calls of KB3DVF and KB3DVG respectively; and Donna Meininger-KB3CPZ, Hank Trice-W3HCT, and Ed Zullo-N3YNC each upgraded to the General Class license.

At the same time we were beginning a new class, a VE session was taking place for those who were upgrading from previous classes. Here is a last minute cram session.

KB3APD pictured here first with KD3QQ and then with the VE team finally upgraded from Technician Plus to General after thirteen (yes 13) unsuccessful attempts and much persistance. Lee is an example of the adage "The only failure is the failure to try again".

Also upgrading to General at the time was KB3CQD who was first licensed in the class offered at the same time last year.

If you are interested in how you could become a Ham Radio Operator send me an E-Mail.

Send KD3QQ the mail! KD3QQ
