  • 9/12/2006 - The Oregon Scientific WMR 968 WX station arrives.

  • 9/13/2006 - A test setup is installed at the wx station. This consists of a barometer/indoor temperature sensor and outdoor temperature / humidity sensor. The outdoor sensor is mounted above the roof of the KC9S ham shack. The outdoor temperatures are highly exaggerated due to heat radiating off the roof.

  • 9/14/2006 - The anemometer is installed at 8' above the roofline.

  • 9/19/2006 - The outdoor temperature / humidity sensor is moved to its present location. Accurate temperature readings can be measured from this date.

  • 9/21/2006 - The rain gauge is installed. A test rainfall of 1.54" is recorded.

  • 9/22/2006 - The station is complete. Accurate wx readings from 39.5997N latitude, 88.7094W longitude begin. From this date forward, historical wx records are accurate.

  • 11/28/2008 - A new Davis Vantage Pro 2 weather station is installed. This station provides more accurate weather information.

  • 12/02/2008 - The new weather station is connected to the internet for the first time and begins relaying data to KC9S Weather Watch and Weatherunderground.com.

  • 11/17/2017 - WeeWX becomes the official archiving software of the KC9S Weather Station (West Okaw River Valley).

  • 2/12/2020 - The KC9S Weather Station begins sending data to CWOP. Click here for the latest data.
  • 6/11/2021 - After 12.5 years, upgrades are perfomed on the Vantage Pro 2 to try to prolong its life.  This includes bringing the station down 15' (about 650' ASL), installing an extension cable on the anemometer to allow this, installing a new cone over the rain bucket with bird spikes, installing a debris catcher, and installing a new battery at the ISS.  Rainfall amounts since about March 2021 had been low due to a clogged rain collector.

  • 7/2/2021 - Further upgrades are completed.  The supercapacitor in the ISS transmitter is replaced.  It was also discovered that water ingress had affected sensor readings so the transmitter case was sealed to prevent this.

  • 9/23/2022 - A new temperature/humidity sensor is installed.  The humidity sensor had been failing over the month prior.
