I currently live in Ellis County, TX. I am a memeber of the Ellis County Radio Club and I am a memeber of the Ellis County ARES group.
I used to be a memember of the Dallas County RACES (#5359) back from 1996 to about 2006. ARES stands for Amateur Radio Emergency Service and RACES stands for Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service. Anyone can check into a ARES net but, you have to be a RACES memeber to check into a RACES net. Essentially, they perform the same duties, one if federally managed while the other is not. Below, you will find various weather related info for the DFW metroplex. When there is a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Ellis County, I do start up a Twitch stream that shows the current RADAR image and has the local repeater on as well so anyone can hear what is going on. As long as I am able, I will continue to run it.
