Try this check list first to fix hotspot issues

pi-star has made some significant improvements to it's software within the first few weeks of Feb 2024

Step-1 Download the pi image
Step-2 Create a WPA file and drop that into the pi image if you're using WiFi
Step-3 Run a back up of your current configuration and drop that into the pi image
Step-4 flash the new pi image zipped folder with all the files to the SD card
Step-5 Boot up the hotspot and be patient and wait for the device to fully power up

The latest pi-star beta release was on Feb 8th 4.3.0 is now available with M-17 support
the dashboard has a FW to flash your modem and a calibrate right from the dashboard no sudo commands

4.2.1 is available from the pi star dashboard "Upgrade" for current 4.2.0 users

Update your MMDVM hat firmware to for the new Bullseye pi OS 1.6.1
To find your modem type use this SSH command sudo pistar-findmodem
