Somerset is a small town in south central Ohio.  It's about 40 miles(64k) south west of Columbus. It's at the intersection of U.S. 22 and S.R. 13. One of those don't sneeze or you'll miss it kinds of towns. The population is listed as 1390. Big city life at it's finest. :-)

Coming into town are signs claiming that Somerset is the home of Civil War General Phil Sheridan. I tend to not believe that claim personally. If he was a general in the Civil War I would think he would be dead now and not calling much of anyplace home. ;-)

There's also a sign claiming Somerset as the home of LPGA's Tammie Green. Last I heard she's still alive and doing quite nicely.

I wonder when they are going to get around to putting up a sign for me?

Almost everything in Somerset is on or right off the town square. Coming into town on either of the roads mentioned above will give you maybe a half mile(.8k) or so of light residential area before reaching the business area. Right in the middle of town, dead smack in the middle of the road, is a statue of General Sheridan. It makes for some really fun traffic jams during busy times of the day. There are no traffic lights and you have everyone on these two roads dumping right into the mess.

One of Somerset's big sources of income, like most small towns all across the country, is speeding tickets. If you decide to come through watch for the police running radar on the edges of town where the speed limit drops.

All in all Somerset is a nice little town. Things are slow and easy. Nothing is more than a 15 minute walk away and you have the most needed things right in town. Stop on by and pay us a visit sometime.
