Honda ST1300 Cell Phone GPS

The basic idea here was to do a cell phone GPS mount that didnt break the bank. A USB cig plug was found on Ebay for cheap. Taking it apart so that it could be wired up instead of plugged in was very easy. After soldering a red and black wire to the board, it was tucked into a heat shrink sleeve. It's not water proof but its water resistant..... The T-Tap is used inside the right side turn signal to steal 12vdc for the USB power. Using the Android application Co-Pilot makes more sense than a dedicated GPS unit.

Taking the USB adapter apart is simple. Crack the case open and toss all the parts except for the PC board. Find the + 12 and ground connections and solder a foot of wire on them then heat shrink the PC board.
The T-Tap clamps around a wire to allow a male 1/4" connector to mate. Looking at the Tap you can see a fork. That fork is what accepts the flat male connector.
The Lido isn't the best choice for this application. I used it because I had it left over from another project. Ram Products makes a all in one mount for cell phones that I would choose if I would do this again.

Searching Ebay for "Mpow cell mount" will find a host of sellers. It doesn't matter what one you buy because the only part needed is the cell phone "grabber". The rear is mated to the Lido LM700 via your own hardware.
