Honda 2010 ST1300AA

August of 2017 is when I bought my 2010 ST1300AA with about 8k on the clock. Since then I've I have enjoyed the hell out of it. Yes it's a heavy bike that I don't want to let get horizontal, but that's what makes it fun. The pic to the left was taken by the original seller as it was the day I bought it.
I had never ridden a bike of this class before the day I test drove it and bought it. My previous ride was a 2014 CTX700. The ST handles the ever not so smooth roads of southern NJ so much better than the CTX!
The updates to this page have come to an end. I have sold my ST. I hope she treats her next rider as well as well as she did me! The chapter is closed as of 9/30/2020.
Windshileld Swap
I have already removed the stock windshield (that the original owner had mechanically cut four inches off) and replaced it with a V stream N20001 shield from National Cycle. That was an easy as pie change that only required a phillps screwdriver! Even better is that the pricetag on Amazon is cheaper than the National's website. Instructions are included with the purchase and take about 10 minutes to do. EASY!
LED brake bulbs vs Incandescent
The stock incandescent brake light bulbs are # 7443. I changed them out to LED to able to use a brake flasher circuit.I researched the subject and found way too many opinions. I chose to use Amazon and buy iBrightstar 3 watt RED 7443 equivalent bulbs.
LED Parking "peanut" bulbs
The stock incandescent parking or "peanut" light bulbs are # 194. I changed them out to a LED version and could not believe the difference in light output! Once again it was off to Amazon for the Brightstar 2.2 watt 194 LED.
LED Headlights
Swapping out the halogen bulbs for LEDs was always on my list. I took the plunge with the "F2" version of the H4 style bulb. After reading everything I could find on the subject, the task was easy. The entire installation process was less than 30 minutes.
Under mirror road lights
Anything that can make you more visible to other drivers is always a good thing. I fist saw the MCL brackets too late to actually purchase them. I'm glad that PSR has come out with a 3D printed bracket that works perfectly without the need to cut plastic.
LED Turn Signals / Switchbacks
LEDs just make sense. They flash without the delay of an incadescent with far less power consumption and they last far longer. Installing clear turn signal lenses allows use of a white "run" lamp that switches to amber for the duration of a turn. They completly change the look of the bike.
GPS Install I intended to use a cheaper Garmin with some kind of dash mount. The experiment didn't work out well. I ended up using my Galazy G7 phone with an ap called Co-Pilot.
Quartet power harness info
In order to power any added toys like radar detectors, GPS, USB hub, LEDs, Radio etc. this harness can get you there.
Extra LED reflectors
Ebay has its good and bad. The good is that you can find all kinds of goodies for sale. The bad is that you can find all kinds of goodies for sale!!!
Two way radio install
I had tried the inexpensive route with my previous ride. It was a true PITA that worked but not as well as I expected. To do it right, Bluetooth and SENA products make it foolproof.
The cost of a Givi or Honda OEM top box was way out of my idea of a sane decision. I opted for a less expensive option that required a little bit of tinkering.
USB power hub / voltmeter
After "rigging" USB power out of a running light, I thought it would be better to instal an actual USB power hub . The voltmeter was just an extra.
Aux Fuse Panel
Because of potential audio ground loops in my radio farkles, I installed a simple six output fuse "panel" that's active on ignition. Not to try to do something better than it's already been done, I would suggest you look HERE for a great explanaition of how to do a panel.
