Tracking Generator

If you looked closely in the previous photo, you may have noticed that I changed the values of the pad on the output of the LO. It was supposed to be right at 0dBm out, but I measured it as about -4dBm. What I should have done was change the final pad, but instead, I changed the pad on the output of the LO. See next photo...

It turns out, the final output of the Tracking Generator was +4dBm...it was supposed to be 0dBm. I discovered this after putting the TG board into its enclosure for the last time (yeah, right). Rather than pull the board and change the output pad values, I just added a -4dB pad that plugs into the header pins on the board and that the output cable plugs into. Since the signal levels are so low, 1/8 Watt resistors were quite adequate, and allowed me to make it very small.

It works. I ain't changing it...
