Ham Friends

This web site would not be complete if mention was not made of the many friends
I've had the enormous pleasure of making over the years.

It all began in the 1970s with a certain fellow up the street from my parent's home
in Glastonbury, CT.  The story begins with Bob Allison coming to my house
and seeing the Hallicrafters SX-28 my aunt had given me.
All sorts of knobs and dials, lights and a meter.  Strange sounds
from far away with the occasional whine from an improperly adjusted BFO.

This was enough to inspire Bob to earn his Amateur Radio license.  He began
as WN1TDN and soon upgraded his license with the callsign WB1GCM.  You might
say I "Elmered" Bob.

Then in 1981 the favor was returned when another friend, Peter Knight - KN1GHT
came to my apartment along with Bob.  They had in tow a big black box, a pad of paper
and some forms.  I thought I was to do code practice, or so they told me, but before
too much time had passed -- they said I had passed the 5-wpm code test
for my Novice license.  The exam came next and before I knew it, I had
joined the ranks of Amateur Radio operators.

There is far more to this story but, as they say, the rest is history!

Below is a short photo gallery of some friends I've made within the Amateur Radio
Community over the years.
