his is a free eText
Reader running on Linux, Windows, and Un*x Boxes and one
of my first programmes written in TCL/TK language.
It displays eBooks (pure ASCII) that are freely available from the Gutenberg
homepage or other ditributors.
There are certainly other free reader-tools
on the web but most for a specific operating system like Windows or PalmOS. In
addition these books are distributed in a proprietary format and can only be displayed
with the fitting reader.(See in the links section)
Have you ever read an eBook 'onscreen'? In the case you answer with yes you already know that this is not very comfortable by using a simple editor! You probably wished to set a bookmark? Or you wanted to resize the editor but the text already wraps after 78 chars?
tkBook gives you the advantage to use all this features you missed! It should be as easy to use as an Internet-browser in my oppinion. Colors and fonts are configurable so you can set up the tool 'for your eyes'.
Send me a mail if you have got problems or hints about tkbook.
