Amateur Radio beacons GB3NGI
This site contains information on the GB3NGI Amateur Radio Beacon cluster.
The beacons are located 500 metres above sea level atop Slieve Anorra Mountain in County Antrim, Northern Ireland - Maidenhead Grid Locator IO65VB.
Slieve Anorra Mountain is about 15 miles south of the town of Ballycastle close to the Giant Causeway Tourist attraction - http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/giants-causeway/
The beacons serve as a useful indicator of the various propagation modes and also provide a useful frequency reference.
The first GB3NGI beacon was the 144 MHz beacon and it came into operation on the 15th December 1995.
There are currently five beacons licenced for the site: -
