Circuit description:

    This design converts the ultrasonic signals received by the microphone, to a lower frequency discernable to the human ear. This is achieved by mixing the amplified  received ultrasonic signal with locally generated signal, the product of which is then further amplified we are able to hear.

    IC1a amplifies the received ultrasonic signal whilst IC1d inverts the amplified received signal, these signals are mixed with the output of the local oscillator IC2 in the product detector T101 & T102, then the output of the product detector passes through a low pass filter IC101b before being further amplified by IC101c whilst T103 & T104 form the audio output stage.
