THE ONLY OTHER FORM OF COMMUNICATION WAS MAYBE A 2 MHZ TRANSCEIVER UP ON THE BRIDGE ( COMPULSARY IF YOU WERE TRANSITING THE USA/CANADIAN GREAT LAKES ) AND A VHF SET ON THE BRIDGE. ALL MEDIUM & LONG DISTANCE COMMUNICATIONS BEING DONE WITH CW
EVEN FROM THE SOUTH PACIFIC WE WERE EXPECTED TO STAY IN COMMUNICATION WITH PORTISHEAD RADIO, THE 'AREA SYSTEM' HAVING CLOSED WHEN THE UK LOST THE COMMONWEALTH SO TO SPEAK, AND IT WAS BEFORE MY TIME ANYWAY.
THE LINK TO JAPENESE MORSE CODE IS INTERESTING IT REMINDS ME OF ALL THE TIMES I USE TO WORK TOKYO RADIO AND CHOSI RADIO ON CW.
