FIRST GENERATION

1. George Charles DOWN ⁽¹⁾ was born in 1840 in Devon. He died in 1916. During the 1881 census, he apears not to have been in the household and Matilda is shown as being head of household

He was married to Matilda. Matilda ⁽¹⁾ was born in 1841 in Hennock Devon. ⁽²⁾ She died in 1938. George Charles DOWN and Matilda had the following children:

+3 ii. Louisa (Lucy) DOWN.
+4 iii. Harry DOWN.
+5 iv. George Charles DOWN.
6 v. Arthur DOWN⁽¹⁾ was born in 1879 in Camden Town, Middlesex. He died in 1894.
7 vi. Ellen DOWN⁽¹⁾ was born in 1880 in Camden Town, Middlesex.
