| The Atherton coat of Arms hereby illustrated is officially documented in BURKE'S GENERAL ARMOURY The original description of the Arms (Shield) is as follows: "GU. Three sparrow hawks AR". When translated the blazon also describes the original colours of the Atherton Arms as: "Red ; Three Silver sparrow hawks."
