Details per band432 MHzCompared to the 2007 session, we have made 20% more QSO on 432MHz thanks to an improved station with more power and a better antenna system. The activity on this band was good, especially toward UK. Activity was also good in France. From our QTH in JN29PD we have encountered the same “shadow” effect toward OK. Anyway we count 251 qso in the log with a rather good average distance of 365km/qso. ODX was EA2DR/1 in IN83 at 952 km. Also we made the qso with AO2V at 900km, SK7MW at 872km. Conditions: Power: 500 W Antennas : 4*15 Elts DJ9BV
0-100 km : 10 100-200 km : 30 200-300 km : 77 300-400 km : 39 400-500 km : 37 500-600 km : 30 600-700 km : 13 700-800 km : 7 800-900 km : 6 900-1000 km : 2 1296 MHzThe 23cm band was also good in qso rate and DX but … until saturday evening when the station failed. There was a serious fault in the transverter and we had to use the TS2000 instead, with less power (10W instead of 130W). In sunday morning an other technical fault made the 23cm qrt. Anyway with the 10W power we managed some dx contacts with EA2DR/1 at 952km! His signal was qsb but sometimes strong in east of France. An other good dx was F2CT at 830km. We have logged 67 qso, 10 less than in 2007. We think we have missed around 20 QSO due to the technical problem. Random activity in 23cm was low but we can improve it with a broader antenna beamwidth. Conditions : Power : 130W / 10W Antenna : 1m80 dish
0-100 km : 4 100-200 km : 9 200-300 km : 25 300-400 km : 10 400-500 km : 10 500-600 km : 5 600-700 km : 2 700-800 km : 0 800-900 km : 1 900-1000 km : 1 2320 MHz2320 MHz was quite successful this year with 10 more QSO than in 2007 and a significant higher average distance. This band works very well, as well as the 23cm. The fact we use the same dish as for the 23cm sometimes cause some difficulties to manage the sked on these two bands. Anyway, we think that this band is promised to great DX in future contests. Just think to beam or ask sked to us ;) ! The dx QSO was realised with F6DRO/JN03 at 700km via airplane scatter. We were also satisfied and pleased to work F6FHP at 653km, M0GHZ at 591km and OK1KIR at 594km. A special mention to GB3MHS beacon that we have received all the time. Quite a very useful beacon! Average distance per QSO is impressive with 379km/qso ! Conditions : Power : 40W Antenna : 1m80 dish (the same as for 23cm)
0-100 km : 0 100-200 km : 3 200-300 km : 9 300-400 km : 7 400-500 km : 8 500-600 km : 4 600-700 km : 2 10 GHz3cm was correct but about the same as in 2007. Due to a sudden gust of wind, the complete dish system (with the TRX, the transverter etc..) felled down by 2m high! It was very lucky that there was nobody below and also that all the electronics remained safe! We managed to reinstall and secure the station and continue the QSO … We think that many more QSO could be achieved with a better activity on microwave in France during contest. In France we have the activity days (about one day a month from April to October) dedicated to microwave activity. The most of the microwave activity is done during these days and so the contests suffer from less activity. We have also high trees that make impossible QSOs is some interesting/strategic directions (S, SW, E). Without them, we can estimate the potential of our station/qth at maybe 25 qso. 15 QSOs are in the log with G3XDY/JO02 as our dx at 434 km. There is also M1CRO/P at 414km. Conditions : Power : 5W Antenna : 85cm offset dish mounted on tripod
0-100 km : 1 100-200 km : 4 200-300 km : 7 300-400 km : 1 400-500 km : 2 Other observationsWe have used Wintest logging software during the contest. Wintest is our favourite because we found it very easy to use, very reliable. We have used the tchat function to send skeds info between the 23/13/3cm station and the 70cm station. The propagation was average and the WX was quite correct without rain but with a constant moderate wind. Low activity of the French club stations. We hope to copy you soon during the next contests!
