IRTS 2 Metre Counties Contest Rules




1. General
All entrants must be fully paid up members of the Irish Radio Transmitters Society. This does not apply to stations outside EI.

2. Date and Time
2.1 Easter Monday and the last Sunday in August from 1400 to 1600 local time (Not UTC).
2.2 Both dates are seperate contests.

3. Sections
3.1 a) High power portable
3.1 b) Low power portable - max 10w
3.1 c) High power fixed
3.1 d) Low power fixed - max 10w
3.1 e) FM Only - Single Op.

3.2 Whether portable or fixed, entrants must operate from a single location for the duration of the contest.

4. Modes and Frequencies
4.1 SSB and FM. A station may be worked on both modes - except in the FM only section.
4.2 Contacts on repeaters or on 145.500, .525, .550 or .575 are not valid.
4.3 Only one transmitter may be operated at a time.

5. Exchange
5.1 Exchange report, serial number (starting 001 for the first contact) and county ie. 59001, Wicklow.

6. Special Rules for Counties Contests
6.1 After any QSO in which you are called by another station, you must QSY to another channel (FM), or by at least 3 KHz (SSB), before soliciting another QSO.
6.2 When you respond to a CQ or QRZ from another station, you then have the right to that frequency for a single additional QSO before QSYing as required by 6.1.
6.3 To summarise - the station calling CQ or QRZ must QSY once a contact has been made. The station answering the CQ or QRZ has the frequency for one more contact.
6.4 At the discretion of the Contest Manager, entries from stations with poor-quality signals (too wide, over-driven, distorted, etc.) will not be eligible for any award and will be treated as check logs.

7. Scoring
7.1 For entrants in EI/GI: 7.2 Entrants outside EI/GI 7.3 The final score is the total number of points multiplied by the total number of EI/GI counties worked.

8. Documentation
8.1 Submitted logs should be legible. Accepted fomats are handwitten, typed, computer print, or ASCII text files on disk or by e-mail.

9.1 An award will be awarded to the leading EI station in each section.
9.2 An award will be awarded to the leading station outside EI in each section. (NOTE : previous rules referred to trophies and certificates).

10. Entries
10.1 Entries, which must be signed, should be sent to : The IRTS Counties Contest, P.O. Box 462, Dublin 9, or by e-mail to [email protected] to arrive not later than 30 days after the event.
