Mast cradle with strut welded in position, all this work had to be done at this stage due to size of galvanizing tank, also to avoid risk of damage to projecting parts
The 3 sections of mast were balanced on the stem plate to get a reasonable center of gravity
After tacking the stem post in position I gave Ski EI9GQ and one of the lads at work a call to give us a lift positioning the mast before final welding
Due to the strain on the base of the stem post we decided to brace this unit also
The base is now being welded in position, it will also be bolted down to the frame for added security
Late finish after a hard day's work
View next morning from upstairs
Next stage is to work out correct procedure for cranking up the tower, then a cage will have to be made to hold the rotator, thanks to Paraic EI7IR for ideas
Due to being back at work after the summer, the work is done during weekends only
