THE MAKING OF A SURGEON.
By: DU1UTD MY EARLY AMATEUR DAYS. Hello! This is du1utd greeting you a good day. Thank you very much more finding time visiting our web page. It all started as a vision some 9 years ago. As I was introduced to the wonderful world of "wireless" communication as they refer to it in days of yore, I was smitten. But the start was a jerky one being able to talk only to radio users in the gray zone. That is the rag chewing"kiyaw-kiyaw kind". I tried hard to make sense of it and be knowledgeable of how to get my own license, what is PARA, what is NTC. But alas, I did not get to pursue the goal and I became disillusioned disposing of all my equipment in the process. As they say, first love never dies and as the itch returned to me about 4 years ago, it was then that I finally got a chance to pursue it better. I became a member of the then active kalikasan group and eventually became its president working feverishly with all the members of our group hand in hand to register it with SEC. The goal continued with us reviewing and getting our amateur exams at the NTC to fulfill one of the requirements. Wow, it was a huge success, what wit my XYL and my three kids also passing. Now I also have a family of hams within the group. With our sacrifices came the reward as our group eventually became a full pledged one under the PARA and recognized by the NTC with club station call sign DX1KA. And it was full speed ahead since then with the group having participated in numerous amateur activities sponsored by PARA and other group including our own, our latest major one as of this writing was our dxpedition cum outing cum family affair in La Union and Baguio. Also as a general rule fyio, the group maintains a belief that not only hams but also their family are encouraged to participate and enjoy whatever endeavor the group undertakes. So "everybody happy”. I have but one wish for the group, the PARA and the amateur community in general. That we remain steadfast in our ideals and belief and promote our hobby as fervently as a prayer and be united for a common good until our golden days! May we always be together and be heard up to the ends of the continents. Again this is du1utd with a warm 73. cul.... Dr. Rogelio M. Dancel, DU1UTD |
