The parking brake of the Odyssey was defective. The pads were down, the brake
cable was rotten and the entire assembly was corroded.

After the pads were renewed (bought new ones on ebay), I was sanding the
housing. After that, I did the paint finish and bought new bolts. See below.
The final work that had to be done was the adjustment and reman of
the brake cable and the lever.
This
image shows the lever after sanding with applied primer.
This
is the tether hook, also sanded and with primer.
Finally
the lever was bolted on the vehicle. The problem was that although the lever was
in max brake position, the rear wheels would still spin. The reason was quickly
found. The lever on the brake drum that actuates the brake shoes was
misadjusted. Therefore the lever couldn't travel far enough. Now the parking
brake works find and have a lot of retardation momentum. |
