Within this module cosmonauts work in biology research.

Besides, this module is the support for EVAs (Extra Veicular Activities).

When necessary, the cosmonaut carries through EVA coupled to this arm, and thus he can reach places of difficult access in the exterior of the station. This facilitates the activities of maintenance and the thread of samples of structural materials and electronic systems in the exterior of the station, allowing the study of the effect of the space conditions on these samples.

It also contains a stock of oxygen and drinking water,  attitude control systems and electric energy.
