Minutes of the January 11, 2006 Meeting were read.

Old Business

 

Walleye MastersArnie, VA3NOL advised that the Chamber of Commerce has asked us for assistance to operate the bar during the tournament, June 23-25.  The Chamber will purchase the license, and will split the proceeds with the club.  At least one person needs to take the Smart Serve course.

 

Eton Rugy WinterfestBob, VE3YDN reported that 8 hams had participated providing position reports for the dog teams.   The first team was out of the gate at 11:07 am, and the last team crossed the finish line at 1:32 PM.  Bob had built a portable 30-foot tower for the base station at the start/finish line.  The check point operators had no trouble using their handhelds to maintain contact with the base station.

We still have lots of summer and winter hats in stock.  Marilyns Creative Stitching will embroider the clubs logo and members call on the cap.

New Business

 

Dave, VE3LMU, advised that Modak Helicopters may have two 48 foot towers for the club to take down and use for club repeater sites.  They confirm availability at some time in the future.

 

Bob, VA3GUN, asked the secretary to send Get Well cards to former club members who are sick:  Phil Johnson, VE3EAL, and Bob Smith, VE3WNQ.

 

Rick, VA3RGA advised that Serge Besner of Environment Canada is planning to conduct Can Warn training Friday, May 5, 2006 at the MNR Fire Centre.  There will be two sessions, one early afternoon, and a second at 7:00 pm, to allow members a choice depending on work schedules.  Rick will advise by e-mail once details have been finalized.

 

Bob, VE3YDN, advised that Woody, VE3JJA is planning an Area Emergency Exercise Thursday, May 11, 2006 9:00 am at the E.O.C.  Part of the exercise is to test the effectiveness of HF for area communications.  Bob continues to work on the club E.O.C. manual that will outline the locations of the various Emergency antenna locations at the Hospital, OPP, Airport and MNR Fire Centre sites.

 

Arnie, VA3NOL, polled the members to provide communications at the Canada Day Parade, July 1.

Members then toured the Emergency Operations Centre for a demonstration of the HF equipment.
