The "Hunter's Ridge Hams" is not an official club, just congenial friends, old and new who will operate 1A from Lee Newton Park near downtown Jasper, next to the Chamber of Commerce building.
"It is a GREAT site with a bandstand pavilion where we set up our station, a large cleared field with walking trails over which we stretch our antennas that are supported on tall oak trees and a 100 foot tall water tank. Unfortunately they have removed the climbing ladder from the tank so we have to use out bow and arrow skills to put the lines on it each year. We get visitors to stop by as they walk the exercise trails. It couldn't be much better."
Perhaps more than any other, this group demonstrates the true purpose of Field Day--shortly after their 1994 effort, two members of the group repacked their FD station and headed to South Georgia to support the various agencies in the flood of 94!
