Molokai has two very different faces. One of the smallest inhabited
Hawaiian islands, it is not well known by the outside world; many of its
residents undoubtedly enjoy the peace and quiet that comes from being overlooked.
But the island also has a tragic past in Kalaupapa, a place of horrifying exile
for those afflicted with leprosy in the Hawaiian kingdom of old. Today the peninsula
is one of the most intriguing spots in all of Hawaii.
