I had the parts in my junk box to build a 40 meter SST so I decided to give it a try. The diecast aluminum enclosure measures 1.25" H x 5.25" W x 2.25" D. It took a bit of cramming to get everything inside, but it works great and is very compact. Power out at 13.8 volts is set at 1 watt, but with the gain turned up it can produce about 2.25 watts. My VXO crystal is 11.046 MHz which, with the 4 MHz IF, gives me about a 10 kHz swing (7.035-7.045). The audio gain control is external (through the phone lines).
