Leader of the Second Serbian Uprising, Milos Obrenovic, adopted in 1835. Serbian flag that was same as present Serbian flag.
Dimitrije Davidovic wrote the Sretenje constitution. It is called Sretenje constitution, because it was adopted on February 15th (Sretenje holiday). This day is also the "birthday" of modern Serbian state, the day when the First Serbian Uprising begun.
Combination of the colors on the flag (red-white-blue) was very interesting, indeed. In the description of the flag was written "dark steel" for the dark blue color. The description itself is not quite clear, because it doesn't match entirely with the picture that we have. The description says that ocila (firesteels) are turned toward, not backward from the cross. Maybe it is a mistake. Oak and olive sprigs have switched places according to the description as well. In heraldry our left side is called right (dexter), and our right side is called left (sinister), and this probably caused mistake.

This flag was probably set up in the year of 1838.

A coat was added on the middle of this flag. Reason for this is very interesting. In this period it was a practice to turn the flag up side-down on the mast in case of distress. This made a lot of confusion, because if we turn Serbian flag up side-down we will get Russian flag and vice versa.

civil flag from the 1869. constitution

This flag from the 1869. constitution has ocila (firesteels) without the crown and wreaths. On the red field we can see three six-pointed stars. They are a symbol of Ottoman sovereignty over Serbia. The same case was with Moldavian and Vlasian flags.
