  1. So What Are Web Rings?

Web Rings are like "Clubs" where Web Sites are members. Clubs, often with a common theme or interest, like mountain hiking, salsa salad making, or women owning a computer sales outlet.

All Web Ring graphics have something in common - like the graphic below, it belonged to our original server called "webring.org". I have retained it here for "sentimental reasons". You can nearly always expect to see the word "Next" around Web Ring images, graphics. Clicking on this link will send you to the next member of the particular Web Ring. Now that you know this, you may also understand the meaning of the other terms, 'Previous', 'Random', 'Prev5' etc. These are called the Ring Code.
    WebRing

Web Rings are managed by Ring Masters or Ring Managers. That means I look after the Ring fragments, the string of characters that people get sent by email once they want to become part of the Web Ring. I also make sure that people actually install this code on their web site, once they have applied for the Ring.

Ringmasters also look after the confidentiality of your email address once you are registered: they have a duty of protecting your email address from "spamming".

  2. I am already a member. Do I have to register again?

Active member-websites at the time our WebRing was closed in February 2002 no longer need to register again. Fortunately, I was able to preserve our database. So with this information, all existing member-websites will be reactivated under our new system. Only new member-applicants will go into the regular process of admission to the Ring.

  3. Are there changes in the WebRing HTML Fragment Code?

Although the name of the code was changed from 'HTML Fragment Code' to 'SiteRing Panel Code', the code serves the same purpose; that is, it is the navigational link that links your site to the entire Ring. The Panel Code itself has been modified.

Members are no longer given the option to choose their site id number. Rather, the System assigns their site id number.

  4. How Do I Get My SiteRing Panel Code?

Existing active-members will receive individual emails that will include the SiteRing Panel Code which the members will have to copy and paste to their web page to replace the old html fragment code. Other information will also include the Site Name, Description, Site ID, URL of the web page, Name of Owner, Email, and Password.

New member-applicants will receive a confirmation email after submitting their site information to the Ring. The SiteRing Panel Code is also included in this confirmation email.

A member can also get his code at the List Page. Click on the the "Edit Site" link where your site is located and enter your password. You will then be taken to a page where all your site information can be found.

  5. The code is already in my page. I uploaded it. But the navigation links in the code do not work...

Contact the RingMaster! That's me, of course. The navigation links in your code will not work unless the RingMaster activates your site.

  6. I want to change the graphics in my code. Is this okay?

I'm sorry, you may not change the graphics in your Code. I personally designed the graphics and it is intended to identify The CQ DX SiteRing from the rest of the Rings on the world wide web.

  7. There are some typo in my site information. . .

You can edit your site information anytime. Locate your website at the Ring List Page. Click on the "Edit Entry" link. Enter your site password. You should then be brought to a page where you can update your site information.

  8. Somehow the email that WebRing sent to me with the panel code got lost. Can I get another copy of my code?

Of course you can! Locate your website at the Ring List Page. Click on the "Edit Entry" link. Enter your site password. You should then be brought to a page where you can get your site panel code.

  9. But I have forgotton my password! Can I get a new one?

No need. Your password is safely stored in our data base. Email the RingMaster. Than's me, of course. I'll personally send you your password and all other information that you need.

  10. I am the owner of a commercial web site that I want to add to the WebRing. Is this okay?

Want to advertise, huh? (Joke only). Well... it's okey if your commercial site involves ham radios, ham equipment and other ham-related items.
