Web Rings are like "Clubs" where Web Sites are members. Clubs, often with a common theme or interest, like mountain hiking, salsa salad making, or women owning a computer sales outlet.
All Web Ring graphics have something in common - like the graphic below, it belonged to our original server called "webring.org". I have retained it here for "sentimental reasons". You can nearly always expect to see the word "Next" around Web Ring images, graphics. Clicking on this link will send you to the next member of the particular Web Ring. Now that you know this, you may also understand the meaning of the other terms, 'Previous', 'Random', 'Prev5' etc. These are called the Ring Code.
Web Rings are managed by Ring Masters or Ring Managers. That means I look after the Ring fragments, the string of characters that people get sent by email once they want to become part of the Web Ring. I also make sure that people actually install this code on their web site, once they have applied for the Ring.
Ringmasters also look after the confidentiality of your email address once you are registered: they have a duty of protecting your email address from "spamming".
Existing active-members will receive individual emails that will include the SiteRing Panel Code which the members will
have to copy and paste to their web page to replace the old html fragment code. Other information will also include the Site
Name, Description, Site ID, URL of the web page, Name of Owner, Email, and Password.
New member-applicants will receive a confirmation email after submitting their site information
to the Ring. The SiteRing Panel Code is also included in this confirmation email.
A member can also get his code at the List Page. Click on the the "Edit Site" link where your site is located and enter your password.
You will then be taken to a page where all your site information can be found.
