I originally became interested in radio during the early 90's when i purchased a second hand Midland 77-104 CB Radio.
I made many friends thorugh CB and got involved in working some DX from the various hills across hampshire.
It wasn't until the mid 1990's that a friend of mine completed the RAE and as a result my interest in Amateur Radio Started.
I initially intended to complete the RAE myself however due to work commitments and personal circumstances at the time i never managed to get the exam booked.
In around 2001/2002 Ofcom introduced the Foundation Licence with a maximum power level of 10 Watts and as a result of this i completed the Foundation Licence Course with the Andover Radio Amateur Club.
This was completed over one weekend and i obtained the Callsign M3BQM.
Soon after this i purchased my first radio. This was a Kenwood TH-F7E Handheld Transceiver and soon after this i went on to purchase a Yaesu FT-2800m 2 Meter Transceiver.
Most of my operating over the Years has been mobile as most of the time i have been unable to put antennas up at the home QTH.
There have been a few exceptions to this and for a while in 2004/2005 i was active with a Yaesu FT-847 connected to a Tri Band Co-Linear in the loft along with a Half Size G5RV for HF with an MFJ Intellituner and a Rigblaster for data connectivity.
In 2010 i completed the intemediate License course with the Isle of Wight Radio Society and received my current Callsign 2E0CCR.
I have various interests in radio which include C4FM operating as well as Slow Scan Television and also APRS.
In may 2021 i moved in with my partner and now have a shack at the home QTH for VHF and UHF operating details of which can be found elsewhere on this site.
I regularly monitor the 2 Meter Calling frequency on 145.500 as well as various local repeaters.
My Shack locator is IO91GF and is located in WAB Square SU34.
