Some Members of K6NCG

A lot of hams came and left during my short time on the island. Over all the years there must have been many hundreds. I took photos of some that I knew and I remember the names of only a some of those. I have attempted to identify as many as I can. If you know any that I have forgotten, please let me know and I'll update the text.

This is Larry Perry, WA7CQE. This is what you did when you forgot to bring your Zippo. Note the RTTY ASCII art on the partition.

Gary Gompf, K7VAT and later W7FG, SK. Tragically, Gary died of a heart attack in January of 2009. Gary was well known later for his equipment manuals business Vintage Manuals, Inc.

A member whose name I have forgotten using the VHF position.

This is Stuart Downs WN6PDP, now known as WY6EE.

Al Dawkins, K0FRP, operating the watch position.

Al K0FRP and an unknown member at the watch position.

John (?) at the RTTY position. He and I were operating an RTTY contest at the time, probably BARTG.

Left to right, standing: John(?) and Gary K7VAT and Sitting: Al K0FRP and unknown member.

Several of us took a road trip to Yosemite. Gary K7VAT and I both had Sunbeam Alpines. Gary had the green one and I had the red one. We both had mobile rigs with Webster Bandspanner antennas. That's Gary in his and Al K0FRP in mine. I need help identifying the others. Was the guy in the brown sweater behind Al named Bradford?

This is Bob K7YDM (me) on the left and John(?) on the right after we were up all night working an RTTY contest.

This is Del Messmore WA7CGX, now W7DJM, in front of his hot `63 Chevy.

Gary K7VAT again, changing antennas.

Above, manning the watch position, is Robert L. Cook III, WB6ZAV.

This is Rick Olsen WA7CNP (now N6NR) at the VHF position.

Al K0FRP in the back room. I remember watching the Apollo 11 moon landing on that TV.

Al K0FRP at the watch position.

John(?) at the RTTY position operating the 28ASR. At this point we had the R-390 receiver and the full up dual URA-8s with diversity adapter. Also note the NCG-2000 amplifier in the back.

Del WA7CGX at the top of the tower. I was handing him tools. He did all the work.

This is Stuart Downs in 1970, WN6PDP at the time, climbing the tower. He is now WY7EE.
