bulletAPRS is a multifaceted system for use with packet radio by Hams
bulletIt provides you the capability of monitoring real tine geographical information such as the position of vehicles, the status of weather, radio direction finding and much more
bulletIt is one of the most interesting facets of packet radio and has much to offer most everyone, including non-hams that just want to watch over the internet.
bulletHow does it work?
bulletEach APRS station operate as part of a network, and relay packets from other stations in the network.
bulletAPRS uses the AX-25 Amateur Packet Radio Protocol, so standard packet hardware will work
bulletAPRS stations typically use a 2 meter FM radio operating at 144.390 MHz
bulletWhat do I need to have to bring a home-station on line?
bulletA 2 meter radio, antenna, coax and a power supply. (GPS is optional)
bulletA Terminal Node Controller (TNC) or sound card adapter (if the sound card solution is used).
bulletAPRS software (and AGW Packet Engine Software if a sound card solution is used)
