Fellow Island Chasers,
Important information for our Canadian Island Chasers.
Please note if you are working a new island and it's not showing on the site yet this most likely means that I haven't received the information on the New activation. Please note I do check my email regularly and try to get the information on-line as quickly as possible. This doesn't always happen due to factors beyond my control .
IF I plan to be away for a couple of days I
will put a notice on the system for everyone to know and I will update
the site with the proper information when I get back.
If you see a problem or error or would like something
added or changed, feel free to email me ve3tpz AT yahoo.com
Please note any new items or changes will be added only after VE3XN, and I have had a chance to discuss thes
Thanks for your continued co-operation and support. Have fun working the Canadian Islands

involved in the various island acitvations and some of the island hunters and some of our supporters who work behind the scenes and don't see or hear them on the air at the Brampton hamfest yesterday.
Spotted in the crowds Igor VE3ZF, Ken VE3KF, Dave VE3FOI and others who I don't know

I met Neil VE3SST who had been assisting in filling in some of the many blank locations for
Ontario and other Provinces over the past two years watch for more updates in the future.

Yes we fans we a bit more information on some more Upcoming Canadian Island Dxpeditions
I received an email just before heading to work last nite via Garry Hammond VE3XN which he forwarded to me for the inclusion on the Site.
In a note from VE6RI Robert Mordem
This Spring or early summer, the Jr. Op. Randy, VE6RGU and I will
be operating from Bewley Island for the Canadian Islands Award.
Bewley Island is located on the Peace River, at the north end of
the town of Peace River. This Island is one of the few in
northern Alberta that is named on a map, most Islands here are unnamed.
We will operate two stations on SSB/CW/RTTY/PSK-31 from 160 to 10 metres, running 100 watts to 1 kilowatt. Antennas will be, a kite antenna for 160 and 80 metres, a monopole vertical for 40 metres and a 2 element vertical for 20 and an R7000 for the WARC bands along with 15 and 10 metres. Depending on how things pack up, we could eliminate the monopole for 40 if need be, but I use three reflector wires on it so the antenna gives a bit of gain, I would like to use it. I have the MFJ 1910 telescoping fibreglass mast which will support it.
This trip is now planned for sometime in the month of May more details as we get them.
Also advanced warning they are also planning an IOTA trip for 2009.
Sable Island, CY0 A
6 meter DXpediton is planned for 2008 between June 25th - July 5th. Look for
Sable Island (NA-063, CISA NS-004) to be activated by Pete/VE3IKV, Dick/K5AND,
Chris/W3CMP, and Bill/W4TAA. Activity will be on CW and SSB. The fixed 6m station
in FN93 will have 800 watts into a 7 element beam up 40 ft. A portable 6m station
in GN03 will have 100 watts into a 5 element beam up 30 ft. The callsign and
frequencies will be announced later. Other references are: Sable Island - East
Lighthouse (ARLHS SAB-001, TWLHD WLH CY0-001, WLOTA:0758, WW Loc. GN03CX) and
Sable Island - West Lighthouse (ARLHS SAB-002, TWLHD WLH CY0-002, WW Loc. FN93XW).
Donations to VE3IKV... Thanks to VY2SS for M2-8EL for Fixed Station... "Airfare
alone is $10,000 USD to get the four of us there and back from Halifax, NS."

Update 12/17/2007
We have now been issued the special event call signs CY0X (for the main fixed station in FN93) and CY0RA (for the portable station in GN03). The fixed station 6m antenna is a custom 8-element M2 yagi optimized for forward gain. Operating frequency for CY0X will be 50.117 cw and ssb, and we will also be on 40 & 20 meters. QSL is via VE3IKV direct.
