VA3MOD MOBILE (VA3MOD-14)

Here is an overview of the installation.

This installation is mounted for optimum ease of use, visibility and safety for the driver position. The radio is a Kenwood TM-D700A and the GPS is a Magellan GPS 315. The microphone sits in a cup holder between the front seats. (not seen) The control and GPS cables are neatly tucked in the dash and run under the carpet. Power for the radio come from the fuse panel and the power for the GPS come from an accessory CLA. Once the reach the rear storage compartment they come through a small hole into the radio. The GPS cable has lots of length on it so that it cam be unplugged and used to program the location in to the TH-D7AG. The radio is mounted on a wooden bracket which I made to fit snug in the storage compartment. The bracket actually has to be assembled in the compartment. An external speaker is mounted on the driver side door column. (not seen) This installation was a lot of work but it was worth it.
