Initial Results
Dick, W2YE, reports:

Hi, key SPARC Field Day folks.  Here is the results of our activity as I have submitted to ARRL.  The documentation package will be mailed shortly.  Let me know if you see any problems.

Despite a revised location and new software package, I think our results were outstanding.  If my submission is accepted as submitted, we actually broke 10K points!

Newspaper Article

Jim, AF4MO, did submit information to The Loudoun Times Mirror about ourfield day event.  It appeared in the July 29th. "Indie" section of the Loudoun Times Mirror.
However,  the newspaper combined the information of our field day and LARG'sfield day into one confusing article.  Jim will contact them tomorrow to resolve the problem.
I am attaching the article for you to laugh about.  At least a news media article wasattempted for our 100 points.

Field Day is Over

26 June 2011

I did not believe I could have more fun at Field Day than last year, but I did.
The site was very nice.
We were closer together,
we got much more visitor traffic,
we had more people at the GOTA station,
the weather was pleasant,
we had one more tent for more shade,
we had some new members come out for the first time,
we got a satellite QSO,
we had a few exciting moments at the beginning
when the computers would not work
We had some exciting moments when the radios interfered
with each other,
Most club members came out,
10M and 6M came on strong,
and WE SCORED MORE QSOS. I had a great time.

Field Day has Started
24 June 11:  Hi,

We got a good start on field day this evening at the Antenna Rope Hanging. Many people showed up and we had a very enjoyable 1-1/2 hours.

We have a new leader in the rope hanging contest - the sharp-eyed sling-shotters who put the line over light towers.

Don, K7CS, scored 0 ropes hung.
Dick, W2YE, scored 0 ropes hung.
Bill, WF1L, scored 1 rope hung
(using Dick's EZ-Hang slingshot and with one shot)
Paul, K4PDF, scored 3 ropes hung.

Thanks to all who came out.

Slightly updated plan is on the web site.
http://www.qsl.net/sterling/Field_Day/2011FD/2011FD_Plan.html

Still have some room for more operators.

Group photo will be taken at 1330. This should be the time after we finish setting up and before the contest starts at 1400.

See you tomorrow at 1000.

The Plan
13 June 11: Initial plan is available for review and comment based upon the discussion at the May and June Club Meetings (including Jim, KF4PWL; and Don, K7CS, suggestions on new layout for the new location this year.

Change to N1MM
16 June 11:  Early in the SPARC year, the Club made a committment to change our logging software from CTWin to N1MM. We had two practice setup sessions: 3 Feb 11 and 30 Apr 11.

A Goal

In order to move up in the rankings based upon last year's log entries:

Another 264 points moves us to a ranking of  75
Another 1000 ppints moves us to a ranking of 62
Another 2000 points moves us to a ranking of  45
Doubling our score moves us to a ranking of  5
