The Association
SOAPRA was formed to promote packet radio communications in the Southern Oregon and Northern California region. Line of sight VHF and UHF communications is quite difficult in this mountainous region and therefore an effective backbone network had to be established and maintained so packet radio can be used as more than just a point-to-point communications method.
SOAPRA provides a mountain top network to enable and encourage both packet networking and keyboard-to-keyboard communications throughout Curry, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, and Klamath Counties in Oregon and Del Norte, Siskiyou Counties in California.
