Rules and Guidelines
Effective Date: 04/11/10
The first Saturday of every month will be the Fremont T-Hunt.
The third Saturday of every month will be the Foxes choice T-Hunt.
The Fox can hide within any listed start point boundaries.
- Fremont Hunt.
- Pleasanton Hunt.
- Redwood City Hunt.
- Santa Clara Hunt.
- Bay Hunt.
- Pack-A-Lunch.
The fifth Saturday of a rare month will be the Pack-A-Lunch T-Hunt or it can be a Foxes Choice T-Hunt.
- Usually starting at 10:00 AM and usually having no boundaries. Usually a Challenge hunt.
BEGINNER (EASY):
- The transmitter must be heard at the start point.
- The transmitter will have a good bearing at the start point.
- There must be a direct path from the transmitter to the start point. (No mountains, tall buildings, or other large items that may cause reflections should be between the start point and the transmitter).
- The transmitter will be no more than 10 line of sight miles from the start point.
- The power will be 1 to 10 watts effective radiated power.
- The transmitter will transmit a continuous signal.
- The transmitter will not move.
- The transmitter should be heard at least 80% by the hunters as they leave the start point and move towards the transmitter.
- The transmitter will be in the open and unobstructed. (This means not next to any reflector or absorber, such as behind a wall or hill/mountain, under a bridge tower or metal structure. This includes fences, dumpsters, and towers).
- If the transmitter is hidden and/or disguised, the fox must provide beginners with close-in-gear and assistance to find the transmitter.
- The antenna will be vertically polarized (not tilted), omni-directional.
- The antenna should be high in the air, not next to the ground.
- Locations at sea level next to the bay are not beginner hunts.
- The transmitter will be publicly accessible and not require a fee for entrance.
- If a long walk or hike is required to get to the transmitter, it should be advertised in advance.
- Mileage will be taken from a point chosen by the fox in advance. (Default: finding the radiating element).
ADVANCED (Normal/Standard):
- The transmitter must be heard at the start point.
- The power will be 0.1 to 50 watts, effective radiated power.
- The transmitter will transmit a continuous signal.
- The transmitter will not move.
- The antenna will be vertically polarized (not tilted), omni-directional.
- The transmitter will be publicly accessible and not require a fee for entrance.
- If a long walk or hike is required to get to the transmitter it should be advertised in advance.
- Mileage will be taken from a point chosen by the fox in advance. (Default: finding the radiating element).
CHALLENGE:
- The transmitter should be heard at the start point, the fox must provide a general direction if the transmitter cannot be heard at the start point.
- The transmitter will be publicly accessible.
- If a long walk or hike is required to get to the transmitter it should be advertised in advance.
- Mileage will be taken from a point chosen by the fox in advance. (Default: finding the radiating element).
- No map boundaries will exist.
