2.0.0 THEORY OF OPERATION
The CVPBS simulates human respiration flow patterns by incrementally varying the volume of a welded stainless steel bellows. The bellows volume changes are produced through a computer-controlled servomotor lead screw drive system. The exact pattern of changes (i.e., the profile) is transferred from the computer to the Motion controller card and is stored in the motion controllers array memory.
Profile creation, selection, and control is performed by the operator, utilizing the computer display and mouse. The computer display while running the control program shall be referred to as the "FRONT PANEL". The CVPBS is contained in three packages as described on the following pages.
