In April of 2001 a fellow ham, Randy N3WXG, was given a Kohler 7 kW generator by a
Company that he used to work for. The generator was out of an RV, so it had no frame or
wheels to make it portable.

Randy and I discussed several different options on how to make the generator usable for
radio emergency work. We decided that it would be best to have all our emergency equipment
available on one trailer. We started with a used boat trailer and had an c-channel frame built by
a local welding shop.

Then came decking it with 2 X 10" boards and making mountings for the AB-577 military
surplus tower, generator and other necessities.

At this point we have the trailer operational for emergencies. The generator fuel is provided by
portable metal boat tanks.
Presently we are designing an upper deck storage area and walkway. This will be made out of
angle iron and welded to the trailer frame. It will provide storage for the antennas and give us
a raised platform to install the elements on the beams with the boom mounted on the tower. A
storage box will be mounted on the front of the trailer for stakes, guys and such Work
continues as income allows.

There are pictures of the assembly in the Photo Album 2 section.
