Allegany County Maryland Emergency Corridinator (EC) for
RACES. Allegany RACES operators consist of approximately
25 FCC Licensed radio amateurs, which are formally
registered in RACES. These operators make up a nucleus of
skilled radio communicators able to provide assistance in
natural or man made disasters to Allegany county, Maryland
and bordering counties in Maryland, Pennsylvania and West
Virginia. A Net Control Station, callsign W3YMW of the
Mountain Amateur Radio Club (MARC) is permentaly set up
in the Emergency Operations Center of Allegany County, located in a hardened facility in
Constitution Park, Cumberland Maryland. RACES has a mobil communication bus called
AMCOM ONE which is outfitted with radios for all public service and emergency units
that would operate in Allegany County. This vehicle is equipped with a small generator
inside the bus and a larger diesel generator which is towed behind in a trailer. AMCOM ONE is operated and maintained by MARC with support form Allegany County Emergency Management.
