Born March, 8 1939, in Randers Denmark. Immigrated to USA 1962.

Joined the Danish Merchant Marine at age 13.

This is the only ships, I have picture of, that I served on doing my 10 years in the Danish Merchant Marine. I emigrated to USA 1962, was drafted to the US Army, one month later.
The Army;
Picture taken in Germany (Me and my truck). After Boot camp and 8 weeks of heavy vehicle driver school, in Fort Dix, NJ. I was transferred to Germany, to drive heavy trucks all over Europe. This is also where I found my wife.
After much paperwork we finally got the Army's permission to get married. It toke a long time because I was still a Danish citizen and she was a Spanish citizen. November, 17 1964 the knot was tied, and still is today. Above; first everything, wife, car, apartment, TV, and kitchen.
And our first and only baby girl, we named her Vida.
Left Germany 1966. The Army needed experience sailors, with my back ground in the Merchant Marine, send me to school, promoted me to Warrant Officer, and gave me a Master of Coastal Vessels and Mate of Unlimited Vessels license. Then send me to Viet Nam.
My first year in Viet Nam, I was Captain of a 120 ft. LCU. I ran Coastal the first 6 months, then it was up the Mekong delta rivers the last 6 months

My second tour in Viet Nam, I was Captain on two different Tugs both 110 ft, one LT 1957 was stationed in Cam Ranh Bay, its duty was assisting Merchant vessel docking, and moving barges, and heavy barges cranes around the bay. The LT 1972 was stationed in Saigon, its duty was the same, did also tow barges in the rivers.
After the Viet Nam war was over, the Army did not need any ship Captains, so we were part of the so called "Reduction in Forces" (RIF).
Between tours in Viet Nam, I was assign to USATTU in Cadiz Spain as Transportation Officer of all US cargo coming into Spain.
The Coast Guard;
I joined the US Coast Guard seven months later. They toke me in as PO1 (E-6) and I retired as Master Chief (E9), with 26 years of total service.
St. Menemsha St. Cape Cod Canal CC Canal boats CGC Snowhomish
Stationed at Station Menemsha twice, April, 1973 to April, 1976 as Executive PO, and again June, 1978 to February, 1981as Officer in Charge. Assign as Executive CPO on CGC Snowhomish, a 110 ft icebreaking Tug 1976 to 1978. February 1981 to February 1983 served as Officer in Charge on Station Cape Cod Canal. Was Senior Instructor at Coast Guard Maritime Law Enforcement School York Town, VA, from there moved to Portsmouth Harbor as Executive MCPO.
Toke Command of the Coast Guard Point Batan, in Cape May, NJ April, 1987 retired February, 1989.
Dorchester Ship Yard, NJ
Worked as Contract Manager and Chief Estimator at Dorchester Ships Yard NJ for 10 years.
