The annual U.P. 200 Sled Dog Race is normally scheduled for the third weekend of February. The race
covers approximately 240 miles through three counties (Marquette, Alger, Menominee) in the Upper Peninsula of
Michigan. Amateur radio operators are located at points along the course to monitor the progress of the
race and to insure that handlers and their dog teams have assistance available in necessary.
Traditionaly, each year the Hiawatha Amateur Radio Assn. has operated a special event station from the
race headquarters located in Marquette, Michigan, so listen for K8LOD.
