The Coastal Amateur Radio Society was founded in 1977. The founding members strived to make amateur radio available to all persons with an interest in our hobby and we still maintain that goal today. We offer beginner and advanced amateur radio classes, usually taught at one of the SouthSide Fire Department locations.

Club members are very much involved with local emergency communications as well as communications for public events.

The C.A.R.S. club has four voice repeaters with state of the art controllers. They can tell you the time, give you a signal report and connect you with local police. These repeaters also have phone patch capabilities, which allow you to phone your home or you can be paged over the air by another person calling you by telephone.

C.A.R.S. has a weekly two-meter net on the 146.70 repeater on Sunday nights at 2100EST and a 10-meter net on 28.309 mhz. on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 2100EST. All amateurs are invited to check in, not just club members.

Club meetings are held on the first Monday of every month, at 7:00 p.m. at the SOUTH SIDE FIRE DEPT. on White Bluff Road. Every third month we have an "Eating Meeting." This meeting is usually held at a local restaurant. We eat and socialize.

If your active on HF, look for some of our members on 28.309 on 10 Meters, or 3.876 on 75 Meters around 2000EST or later.
