It is widely known that women in Chonju area has been much more excellent in making food than cooks in other regions in Korea. Thus Chonju is known to be the home of flavor and the place of food culture.

Chonju Pibimbap: Pibimbap has been well known as one of the three traditional Koran food, including Pyongyang Naengmyon (cold buckwheat noodle) and Kaesong Tangban (rice in soup). As Pibimbap is made with more than 20 dishes, including bean sprout, hot bean paste, rice, and others. It has been widely known as Chonju indigenous food. Tourists coming from other regions like to try Pibimbap.
Main materials of Pibimbap: bean sprout, lettuce, carrots, cucumber, roots of broad bellflower, mushrooms, spinach, bracken, buckwheat jelly, sesame oil, hot bean paste, pine nuts, sea weed.
