A PIC-Based Repeater Controller

The controller as fitted to GB3GD's Philips F494.

Sharp-eyed technocrats will notice that the receiver board at the top of the picture has components where there should be none - in the transmitter section. This is because the original board was replaced with a chassis from an M294e so that we could have a loudspeaker!

The controller built on stripboard, with the LCD module removed. The layout is so simple that a PCB seemed unnecessary.

The empty IC socket houses the DTMF decoder. The IC on the right is the CML FX828 where all of the audio processing is done. The PIC is centre stage.
