Very hard work on the weeks before the contest, turned out very bad for the contest itself. Everybody was very tired already in the begining of the contest. We had concentrated more stations in the main house (80m,40m,20m and 10m) and we used the small caravan with the 160m and 15m stations. The setup for the stations this year was the following: 160m - Dipol ,and a Slooper for USA, TS-870S and the Hamp Amplifier 80m- Delta Loop, and 2 Dipols, IC756ProII, Ameritron AL1500 40m - 2 Element from Cushcraft, Dipol, IC756ProII, AL 1500 20m - 6 Elemen.+3 Element Tribander, FT1000MP, SB220 15m - 5 Element Monobander+ a JP BEam (6 Element Tribander) FT1000D, Hamp Supply 10m - 5 Elem. + 4 Elem. Monobander, FT1000MP, Centurion from TEN-TEC On the High band all the contest were more or less what we expected. The lack of experienced operators turned out to be our bad part on the contest. On the lower bads conditions were nice during the week, so we expected to have better performance, since our main effort were 160m and 80m. However, we still dont know why, this year we could year everybody, but it seems nobody could here us. I was calling EA4 for 40m in the 80m at 2300 zulu. Unbelievable !!! 160 was the same way. Anyway some other conclusions were taken, and for the next one we will surely improve !! The Madeira Team realized the Dxpedition to AF046 - Desertas Islands, in a joint venture with ARRM - Radioclub from Madeira Island. Know a 2m Repeater and a Packet Node are availlable from those islands, covering all the East and South coast of the Main Island of Madeira. The Repeater is in R2 (145.650Mhz) and the Packect Node is the MAD2 - 144.750Mhz.
