Welcome to the Alaska VHF-Up Group Contest Page. We've created this page to serve functions of VHF contesting resource lookup and as announcement place for upcoming contest events. Resources are listed on the left side of the page. Please note that we encourage that contest logs be submitted using the cabrillo format, though many contests still allow submission of paper logs. Many logging and contest softwares provide a means for creating a cabrillo file. For those desiring a method of constructing a stand-alone cabrillo file, a source of applets for that purpose can be found by clicking on "Cabrillo Applets" in the left margin. If you need help creating a cabrillo file or have any contest-related question, please don't hesitate to ask me. Since many of our club's members reside in states other than Alaska, their contest scores cannot be contributed towards the AVG score in ARRL club competions unless those stations are operated while visiting Alaska during the contest.

Folks, AVG got listed as a club participant in the 2011 ARRL June VHF QSO Party results.
This is because we had three participants in the contest who sent in their logs and
contributed their scores towards the club competition. Our appearance in the club
competition is not going unnoticed, despite the fact that we showed up on the bottom
of the list. But, this is not bad; there is nowhere to go but up, right?! The next
major ARRL VHF contest is the 2012 ARRL June VHF QSO Party, announced below.

2012 ARRL June VHF QSO Party

Begins 1800 UTC Saturday and runs through 0300 UTC Monday (June 9-11, 2012). Contacts may be made on all bands 50 MHz and up. Exchange grid squares. Be sure to indicate "Alaska VHF-Up Group" as your club when you submit your entry.

July 11, 2012 is the deadline for submitting entries.

The June VHF QSO Party is the most popular of the three ARRL VHF contests. There is a decent probability that there will be sporadic E or even F2 propagation on the 6-meter band during the contest period.

2012 ARRL Field Day

Begins 1800 UTC Saturday and runs through 2059 UTC Sunday (June 23-24, 2012). Contacts may be made on all amateur bands, which, of course, include the VHF/UHF bands. While this event is not considered an official contest, it's run like one and offers an opportunity to operate on the VHF bands when others are likely to be there.
