Subject: Latest TV video Carriers list.

SABC's B Conditions for some weeks have been more or less standard TEP, with reception on 50 MHz from the MED and Europe as far north as the Ukraine on a daily basis.

Short-range TEP occurred several times with the reception of the Equatorial Guinea E2 transmitter in the late evening.

On three occasions the MUF went past 60 MHz.

Generally, despite the very high SFI this week, condions must be called "poor".

Most of the "common" TEP mode E2 TV carriers (Spain, Portugal, Syria, 2x Iran), have measured daily signal-to-noise ratios on the carrier of around 50 dB or more and generally jam each other to the extent that attempting to ID the signals by video reception takes too many hours (there are other distractions on VHF).

Of late a Spanish E2 transmitter, which I believe to be Santiago in n/w Spain, has been prominent and comparable to the Portuguese Muro transmitter in performance.

The Euro-zone QRO indicators into the southern hemisphere remain: Homs, 2 x Iran, Madrid and Equatorial Guinea.

On R1 the best performers are the two Hungarian transmitters, and a number of "0" offset transmitters which include Cahul Molovia, Yerevan, Dushanbe Kajihistan, St Petersburg, St Polten Austria (ch E2a, exactly on 49.750.000) and two Czech Republic transmitters at Praha and Ostrava on 8m and 8p resp.

The Swiss Bantiger transmitter is on 48.250.000 but does not propagate as favourably as other European outlets and is probably screened to the south due to mountains or a directional beam.

The transmitters are in my list.

A peculiarity has been reception of French language programing on E2 sound with low FM deviation and this appears to be, based on antennadirection, from Iran!

The 8p Iranian which I had identified as "Teheran" on 48.259.883 is now QRT, but the high power outlet on 48.259.784-810 continues. Iran was testing a high power transmitter on ch E2 "0" offset recently, but this has not been received again.

Cheers,

Ian Roberts ZS6BTE

Johannesburg South Africa.

Dates indicate reception in Johannesburg South Africa. The frequencies are referenced to the ch 13 transmitter in Johannesburg which I use as an off-air standard. This transmitter is locked to a Rhode and Schwarz rubidium standard which has not been
calibrated for years, but is believed to be good to 1 in 10 exp-10 ppm or better.

Frequencies are measured by adding the audio offset on a sound card to the RF carrier frequency in USB mode.
