CREED TELEPRINTERS.

Creed 54 Teleprinter and S2 Reader
Creed Model 54 Teleprinter and Creed S2 Tape Reader used by ZL4PZ for amateur radio RTTY (Radio TeleType) from about 1978 for a few years. The Creed Model 75 was also used by amateurs but although being smaller they tended to have more problems.

QSL printout
An example of RTTY graphics of that period.

Other graphics sent or received included such things as horses heads, tikis and so on. With no error checking in the RTTY format there would sometimes be gaps in the pictures - horizontal displacement casuing strange effects.

All in all a fun time was had experimenting with such things, saving to punched tape to use on the reader for retransmission. Eventually technology overtook the noisy and bulky teleprinters and computers were adapted to this mode among others.
