The Amateur 'Q' code.

Some of the more commonly used codes were.........
  • QRM Are you being interfered with/I am being interfered with.

  • QRN Are you troubled with atmospherics/I am being troubled....

  • QRQ Shall I send more quickly/Please send more quickly.

  • QRS Shall I send more slowly/Please send more slowly.

  • QRT Shall I stop sending/I am ceasing transmission.

  • QRX Shall I wait/Will you please wait a moment.

  • QRZ Who is calling me/you are being called by ...........

  • QSB Does my signal strength vary/your signal strength varies.

  • QSL Can you acknowledge/I will acknowledge receipt.

  • QSY Please change frequency to...../shall I change frequency?

  • QTH What is your location/my location is...........

These are but a few, and as you can see, when these signals are sent out in 'Q' code in any language, then they are interpreted the same in another language. Neat eh? This saves a lot of problems when contact is made with another country.
